Hi, I am Lisa Van Laeken.

I am a family and pet photographer from Ridgefield, Washington. I have been actively pursuing photography for the last 6 years, though my interest in photos started in middle school. I am a mom to two wonderful kids--both of whom I love to torment, dress up, and pose in front of my lens--and four fur babies, two of which are insta-famous for their dog modeling skills. Family is my favorite subject to capture in a picture, and although sometimes it's begrudgingly, they always smile for the camera. My husband has always been my biggest supporter and assistant during my photography career. He's usually the one holding the camera so I can sneak into the frame once or twice a year

I am best known for photography that is true to color with a bright aesthetic, backlighting my subjects, and creating beautiful bokeh lighting with creamy, distant backgrounds.

The best photos are carefully curated to bring out the best lighting in the environment, as well as an experience that evokes an authentic emotions. My goal in photography is to capture the essence of the model in front of me, whether person or pet. This means organizing an experience that brings pure joy, fun, and laughter for my subject. I often use prompts such as "walk towards me as if you're dizzy from spinning!" or ask fun questions to help them smile such as "tell me about your favorite birthday memory!" With pets, I enjoy safely using props and creating settings that are similar to newborn and child photography- because our fur babies deserve the same special photos!
